Many Hongkongers consider Canada when they plan to study abroad or immigrate overseas. If you're looking to send gifts to your loved ones located overseas, Pickupp may be of your interest as they can arrange International shipments to the Canada. Learn about the precautions and top tips for sending parcels in the quickest way!

Precautions for mailing parcels to Canada

1. Import duties If you are sending as an individual, the starting point for Canadian customs taxation is $20. Items with a value of less than $20 are generally exempt from customs duties, while items worth over $20 are taxed at 5-10%. Besides customs duties, Canadian customs will also levy a 5% goods and services tax (GST) on imported goods, and different provinces will also levy a provincial sales tax (PST), such as British Columbia and Ontario (8% provincial sales tax). Canadian customs policies are subject to change, and we advise guests to visit the Canadian Customs website before mailing. 2. Transportation Insurance If you need to ship goods with high value, it’s best to guarantee them with shipping insurance to avoid damages that may occur during the delivery process. If you send an International parcel through Pickupp, the company will automatically cover packages up to HK$100. 3. Individual products Items such as food, medicines, liquids (cosmetics), and battery-containing products take a long time to complete the transportation and customs clearance. It is therefore recommended to check relevant shipping information in advance with Pickupp’s customer service.
